David Cohn is a Managing Director of Diamond Capital Advisors. After 40 years as a business owner and an investment banker, it is easy for him to step into a client’s shoes. David brings a portfolio of completed transactions in manufacturing, distribution, aerospace, and engineered plastics. He also co-founded two previous investment banking firms, along with operating City National Bank’s investment banking division in the late 1990s.
David started his career in manufacturing, eventually owning and operating two firms. He sold the first firm, which fabricated and distributed plumbing and bath products, to Beatrice Foods Co. David acquired the other firm, which manufactured HVAC components for home and industrial use, out of bankruptcy, successfully restructured it, and later sold the company to a strategic buyer.
After selling the plumbing and bath products corporation to Beatrice, David joined Beatrice as group manager of its home products division. While at Beatrice Foods, David gained nine years of corporate M &A experience, as well as facilitating further acquisitions for the parent firm. His hands-on experience completing large, complex transactions enables him to thoroughly prepare clients for raising capital or selling their businesses. These sales are often a major source of clients’ future liquidity.
Cohn has served on several corporate boards, including a regional bank in the Midwest, a 600- bed hospital, and two major professional organizations – the Association for Corporate Growth (“ACG”), and the Association of Merger and Acquisition Advisors (“AMAA”), where he currently serves.
He is a graduate of Washington University School of Business. He currently serves on the CM&AA faculty, which delivers M & A certification classes at DePaul University in Chicago and Pepperdine University, and is on the speaking roster of the California CPA Education Foundation. David is certified by FINRA as General Securities Principal and Representative.
