David Herman
Managing Partner
David Herman is a founder and Co-Managing Partner of Diamond Capital Advisors. He graduated with a B.A. from Washington University (St. Louis) and then worked for three political campaigns while attending New York University Law School.
Upon graduation and passing the New York bar exam, he joined New Jersey-based Perfect Parts, the family auto parts manufacturing business his grandfather founded in 1940. He worked in every facet of the business: production, sales, branding and product development, and ultimately became President of the company. As the industry changed, David prepared the company for sale and assisted in closing the transaction with Wickes. This experience enabled him to understand the dynamics of marketing and closing deals for privately held businesses.
After selling the company, David moved to Los Angeles with his family, intending to buy a business. Instead, he became involved in investment banking and co-founded Chelsea Capital, a boutique investment banking firm. It was subsequently sold to Houlihan, Lokey, Howard and Zukin, where David became a Director in the Investment Banking Division.
After David left HLHZ, he acquired a cosmetic company (Bodyography) where he added new management, more advanced products, and additional sales and marketing support. In just four years he was able to sell the company for a substantial return on investment.
David then joined Mosaic Capital, a mid-market investment banking firm, as Managing Director. In 2009, David co-founded Diamond Capital. Due to his operational and transactional experience, David understands the value-drivers that attract buyers. This enables him to generate better than market evaluations for his clients. In addition, owning and selling two businesses provided David with the insight to effectively advise his clients during one of the most challenging times in a business owner’s career.
Since 1991, David has been a member of the Water Buffalo Club, a children’s charity. Besides being a photographer, he is also an avid tennis player and won a bronze medal at the Maccabiah Games (Israel’s version of the Summer Olympics) in 2009.
David is licensed by FINRA as a General Securities Representative.
